The original video and how ours will differ

Mis-en-scene

Location:

  • Mostly in a studio with a white backgroud, other various shots that seem to be home-videos, cartoons, and clips from TV of world and everyday events. This creates disjuncture and confusion for the viewer, although this is interesting we plan on something more straight forward which is actually can be related to the lyrics.
Our video will use four different locations. London southbank, Regents Park, Southbank Skatepark and Eversholt street (next to Emily's house)

Costume:

  • Delilah has three different outfits. Each of these are a leotard style on the bottom half of her body and quite dramatic on top (leopard print, bird feathers)
Our artist will wear four different outfits, one at each location. All four outfits will differ from eachother but she will maintain an urban style throughout:

  • Running outfit (T-shirt and jogging bottoms)
  • A loose red T-shirt dress
  • All black classy and sexy outfit (crop top, leather trousers, heels)
  • most casual outfit (shorts, parka jacket, trainers, hoop earrings, beanie hat and scarf)
Props:

There are no props used in the original video. We will include these props:

  • Headphones
  • A red rose (recurring theme)
Camera Work:

  • The original video uses mostly close ups, mid shots and long shots of the artist.
We will use these shot types but plan to vary the shots a lot more. We want to incorporate a wider variety of shots for example, some extreme close ups, wide shots, establishing shots of the locations that don't focus on the artist. High/low angle shots of the artist to convey how she feels at certain points of the song. We want to use some slanted angle shots and overall include a lot more camera movement that the original video (e.g tracking shot of artist running in park)

Editing:

  •  jump cuts
  • fast/slow motion
  • breaks continuity editing
  • combination of long and short duration shots
  • black and white filter used at points
We would like to use all these editing techniques but also include:

  • Parallel editing between base tracks
  • a time lapse (possibly)
